Job summary

Lawyers For Justice P.C. is seeking a Legal Assistant in Glendale to support attorneys and the legal team with administrative duties, calendar management, drafting and filing documents, and coordinating client meetings and court appearances.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and up to date MS Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with attorneys and clients to discuss cases and projects.
  • Draft legal documents and pleadings per judicial procedures.
  • Interview clients and witnesses; summarize statements.
  • Organize and maintain case files; manage legal documents.
  • Enter and track deadlines, court dates, and meetings in calendaring system.
  • Maintain organized records and cross-reference documents in the database.
  • Assist attorneys on special projects and general tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Legal Assistant

Department: Legal Support

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Glendale

Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 / hour

Description

The Legal Assistant will support attorney(s) and the legal team by providing administrative and clerical support services including, but not limited to, calendar and docket management; drafting and formatting correspondence; organizing and maintaining case files; scheduling client meetings, depositions, and court appearances; answering and directing phone calls; preparing and sending mailings; coordinating travel arrangements; processing expense reports; and assisting with the preparation and filing of legal documents. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping us meet all our clients' needs

Key Responsibilities
  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Drafts legal documents and file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Interviews clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
  • Inputting and updating all legal deadlines, court dates, depositions, hearings, and client meetings into the firm's calendaring system.
  • Calculating and double-checking accurate deadlines based on relevant rules and statutes.
  • Managing conflicts and scheduling adjustments as needed.
  • Develops and maintains records on cases.
  • Organizes, enters, and cross-references documents in a computerized database.
  • Assists attorneys with organizing and carrying out special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
