Job description

Position Overview

A D.C. Law Firm is seeking a Legal Analyst who is motivated, self-directed, and detail-oriented applicant to provide support to attorneys specializing in high-profile plaintiff-side whistleblowers, commercial litigation, and class action matters. High level and sensitive interaction with clients requiring high level security skills; secret clearance useful, not required for the position.

Status

Full-time in office.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and analyze a high volume of documents for evidence to aid federal investigations in healthcare, securities, tax, banking, and money laundering violations.
• Take detailed notes during meetings held with clients and government agents.
• Conduct research using tools such as Law360, LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, and various government and news sources.
• Perform data analysis in SQL and Excel.
• Prepare internal and external reports and memos synthesizing findings from research, document review, data analysis, and meetings under tight deadlines.
• Communicate investigation findings to government agents through PowerPoint or Prezi presentations.
• Assist with document organization, legal document preparation, and trial preparation.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency and experience with a broad range of computer software including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Educational and/or professional experience background in investigative journalism or conducting research with an ability to write and edit content effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive in communications.
• Works well under pressure and able to manage competing deadlines.
• Experience reviewing and analyzing corporate documents and spreadsheets.
• Flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends.
• Experience with data analysis in SQL and related software applications preferred.
• Experience with Relativity, Logikcull or similar document review platforms preferred.
• Experience with LexisNexis, Westlaw or similar legal research platforms preferred.
• Spanish language skills would be a plus.
