Job summary

MissionHires is seeking experienced legal analysts to design and evaluate AI-driven legal tasks, using real-world workflows. You will craft scenarios, prompts, and supporting materials, then assess AI outputs against professional standards, identifying errors and improvement opportunities.

The role emphasizes independent, self-directed work with access to leading AI tools and cloud-based collaboration. Remote engagement with flexible scheduling is offered.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of legal experience preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered where they have substantial practical legal work experience.
  • Depth in at least one area: litigation, corporate and transactional law, compliance and regulatory law, intellectual property, employment law, real estate, tax law, or legal operations with sustained drafting responsibility.
  • Ground conclusions in primary sources and distinguish genuine authority from fabricated legal citations.
  • Strong written and spoken English; ability to explain complex legal reasoning clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Design realistic, challenging legal tasks based on day-to-day professional workflows, including scenarios, colleague-style prompts, and supporting materials.
  • Run legal tasks through frontier AI models and evaluate memos, redlines, brief sections, and analyses against professional standards.
  • Compare model outputs produced from identical prompts and files, determine which output performs better, and document specific strengths and shortcomings.
  • Write detailed grading rubrics identifying issues, authorities, provisions, analysis, conclusions, and recipient-appropriate drafting required for a correct deliverable.
  • Identify and document concrete errors, including fabricated or misread authorities, incorrect legal standards, missed issues, ignored provisions, unsupported conclusions, and misinterpretation of the assignment.
  • Contribute expertise across litigation, transactional, compliance and regulatory, and intellectual property work, including reviewing and refining tasks created by other experts.
  • Use primary legal sources, including statutes, regulations, case law, and governing contracts, to validate conclusions and assess AI outputs.

Job description

When AI gets the details wrong in your field, real people pay for it. The people who know the work best have to be the ones training these models. You’re not being replaced by AI. You’re making sure it’s used accurately and safely.

Responsibilities:
  • Design realistic, challenging legal tasks based on day-to-day professional workflows, including scenarios, colleague-style prompts, and self-authored supporting materials such as agreements, pleadings, correspondence, policies, fact summaries, and exhibits.
  • Run legal tasks through frontier AI models and evaluate resulting memos, redlines, brief sections, and analyses against professional standards.
  • Compare model outputs produced from identical prompts and files, determine which output performs better, and document specific strengths and shortcomings.
  • Write detailed grading rubrics identifying the issues, authorities, provisions, analysis, conclusions, and recipient-appropriate drafting required for a correct deliverable.
  • Work independently on long-form, self-directed assignments and apply feedback thoughtfully to improve task and rubric quality.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of legal experience preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered where they have substantial practical legal work experience.
  • Depth in at least one area: litigation, corporate and transactional law, compliance and regulatory law, intellectual property, employment law, real estate, tax law, or legal operations with sustained drafting responsibility.
  • Working understanding of adjacent legal practice areas and their typical workflows.
  • Ability to ground conclusions in primary sources and distinguish genuine authority from plausible but fabricated legal citations.
  • Bachelor's degree in progress or completed; a JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree is preferred.
  • Bar admission is valued but not required; senior paralegals and legal analysts with sustained drafting experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Current or recent hands-on individual-contributor legal practice experience; candidates whose experience is solely managerial are not the intended fit.
  • Full professional or native-level written and spoken English, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal reasoning and why an answer is incorrect.
  • Strong attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to quickly develop an accurate understanding of unfamiliar files and subject matter.
  • Ability to independently research answers, assess feedback critically, and apply useful feedback without extensive supervision.
  • General familiarity with AI and LLM tools such as Claude or ChatGPT and the judgment to identify plausible but incorrect outputs.
  • Comfort using cloud file tools, browser profiles, desktop applications, and routine file-management tasks.
  • Availability of at least 10 hours per week; consistent availability is valued, and full-time hours may be available.
  • Candidates must be based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom.
Benefits:
  • Pay range of $40 to $125 USD per hour, paid via PayPal on a regular cadence.
  • Fully remote contract work with flexible scheduling.
  • Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week with no weekly maximum; full-time hours may be available.
  • Multi-day task timers that allow work to be spread across several days.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to improving frontier AI systems using real legal expertise.
  • Access to Claude and ChatGPT may be required, with personal subscription costs generally reimbursed.
  • Regular paid projects in your legal field after successfully completing assessment and onboarding.
