Job Summary

A well-established downtown Shreveport legal office is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Legal Admin Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Legal Assistant to support attorneys handling Commercial Litigation and Insurance Defense matters. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for someone with legal office experience who wants long-term stability, professional growth, and the chance to contribute to a respected legal team.

The right candidate will be dependable, organized, proactive, and comfortable managing deadlines, confidential documents, attorney calendars, and client communications in a fast-paced legal setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, proofread, and prepare legal correspondence, attorney letters, court documents, and case-related materials.
  • File, track, organize, and maintain legal documents, pleadings, recordings, confidential records, and physical or electronic case files.
  • Manage attorney calendars, appointments, meetings, filing deadlines, and case-related schedules.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, vendors, opposing counsel, attorneys, and internal legal staff.
  • Assist with billing, invoice preparation, document management, legal research, and paralegal-level support as appropriate.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls while providing general administrative support to attorneys and legal personnel.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation: $39,000 to $42,000 per year, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Prepare, edit, file, and track legal correspondence, pleadings, court documents, and case records.
  • Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, appointments, meetings, and legal filing schedules.
  • Support attorneys with Commercial Litigation, Insurance Defense, billing, document management, and client communications.
  • Manage confidential legal files and provide accurate administrative support in a law firm environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal office experience required.
  • Experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, or similar law firm support role.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, legal documents, court filing procedures, and law office workflows.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor, dependable work habits, and a client-service mindset.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Commercial Litigation and/or Insurance Defense matters.
  • Paralegal Certificate or formal legal training.
  • Experience with legal billing, calendaring, and case management systems.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a respected legal environment.
