Job summary

Daniels & Tredennick seeks an Accounting Specialist in Houston to support the Controller. You will enter and categorize Accounts Payable in Centerbase, prepare monthly pre-bills, and assist with timely client invoicing and e-billing.

You will also reconcile firm credit cards, process reimbursements, generate cost recovery reports, and back up daily banking and new matter intake tasks, contributing to smooth financial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• 1–3 years accounting experience, preferably in a law firm.
• Experience with Centerbase or similar practice management system.

Responsibilities

Job description

Daniels & Tredennick is a mid-size law firm in Houston, Texas. Our practices include civil trial law, corporate law, intellectual property, and appellate. Our attorneys come from a variety of backgrounds having been involved in public service, education, large law firms, and boutique personal injury firms. We have grown to almost thirty attorneys. We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team. This position reports directly to the Controller.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Enter and properly categorize Accounts Payable in Centerbase
• Generate monthly pre-bills and communicate with attorneys to finalize invoices to clients in a timely manner, including e-billing
• Reconcile firm credit cards and petty cash box
• Process employee reimbursements
• Generate month-end cost recovery reports and import into Centerbase
• Monitor Accounting inbox and respond accordingly
• Communicate with paralegals/attorneys regarding client expenses and outstanding client balances.
• Maintain vendor records including name and address changes and W-9 information for year-end reporting
• Serve as backup for handling daily bank deposits
• Serve as backup for new matter intake, including conflicts checks and matter opening
• Assist Controller with special projects

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in Centerbase or similar practice management system preferred
• Strong attention to detail with accuracy and math skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a law firm setting
