Caliber Smart is seeking a Sr. Legacy Mainframe Lead Director with Pre-sales experience to lead modernization efforts across multiple locations including Chicago.

You will define modernization roadmaps, architect cloud-enabled migrations, and guide cross-functional teams through complex program lifecycles. Ideal candidates have extensive cloud experience across AWS/Azure/GCP, hands-on with mainframe modernization, and a proven track record in presales and go-to-market strategies.

Qualifications

• 16+ years of IT experience with 10+ years leading cloud projects.
• Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years building cloud-based solutions to modernize mainframe.
• 15+ years in development and modernization with hyperscalers.
• Proven track record in large-scale legacy modernization deals.
• Deep understanding of AWS/Azure/GCP and related frameworks.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and cloud-native patterns.
• Experience with containerization for scalability.

Responsibilities

• Assess and develop modernization strategy for mainframe and iseries.
• Define target architecture, migration approach and roadmap.
• Design cloud-native migration for legacy apps considering scalability and security.
• Choose modernization techniques such as re-platforming or refactoring.
• Create technical blueprints for migration projects.
• Lead cross-functional teams through modernization lifecycle.
• Monitor progress, manage risks and adjust plans.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align business and technical needs.
• Provide technical leadership to resolve challenges and ensure quality.
• Define strategy for organizational change management and operating model.
