Mencap is seeking a Head of Public Fundraising to lead strategy and growth for Gifts in Wills, In Memory and Wills & Trusts, aligning with the 2030 plan. This hybrid role is based in London with office days on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential extension.
You will oversee a team of six, drive cross-channel campaigns, and strengthen engagement with supporters, partners and stakeholders while ensuring inclusive, high-quality experiences.
At Mencap, we believe that people with a learning disability should have the same opportunities as everyone else to live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. As one of the UK's leading charities, we support thousands of people and their families through advice, services, campaigns and community-based support, while working to create a more inclusive society for all. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Public Fundraising team at a pivotal time. Through our ambitious Mencap 2030 strategy, we are investing in the growth of our Gifts in Wills, In Memory and Wills & Trusts programmes, helping to secure sustainable income that will enable Mencap to continue transforming lives for years to come. Reporting to the Head of Public Fundraising, you will lead a high-performing team to deliver ambitious income growth and supporter engagement in line with Mencap 2030. Combining strategic leadership with strong operational management, you will oversee a team of six colleagues, including three direct reports, ensuring the successful delivery of objectives, budgets and key performance indicators. You will provide leadership across both the Legacy Marketing and Wills & Trusts teams, driving innovation, improving supporter experiences and identifying new opportunities for growth. Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising and the wider organisation, you will increase awareness and engagement across the portfolio while building strong relationships with Mencap Trust Company, agency partners, suppliers and other key stakeholders. Through your leadership, you will play a vital role in securing long-term support for Mencap and helping people with a learning disability live happy and fulfilling lives. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to work from our London office on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. These office-based days are designed to support collaboration, strengthen team engagement, encourage knowledge sharing and foster meaningful connections with colleagues across the Fundraising Directorate and wider organisation. We believe this balance of office and home working enables us to deliver our best work while maintaining flexibility for our colleagues. Its a 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of being extended by up to a further 2 months.
At Mencap, everyone works with people with a learning disability either providing support or advice, or alongside one another as colleagues.
Belonging at Mencap is for everyone, every day, everywhere. Everyone is expected to treat people well and make Mencap an inclusive organisation. Every day we grow and learn. It's okay to make mistakes but we learn from them and make changes. Everywhere people will feel respected, valued, and safe to be themselves. We have Belonging network groups that meet online and are open to all colleagues. The groups include people who identify as Black and Asian, LGBTQIA+, disabled or with a long- term health condition, women, parents and carers, and their allies. We want to encourage everyone to apply to work at Mencap and we offer a variety of different contract types and working patterns. We're not looking for specific experience. It is your personality and values that will make you a great colleague. We will train and develop you to succeed in the role you're applying for.
