Position Description – Yard Jockey

Leer East in Milton, PA is seeking highly motivated dependable employees to join our team. Sign-on bonuses payable after 90 days and 6 months of successful employment!

Overall Responsibilities:

• Responsible for safely operating a tractor trailer at all times and transferring trailers in a professional manner.
• Safely operates and maintains company vehicle in compliance with all company, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available to work every Saturday.
• Overtime may be scheduled; Saturday availability is required.

Preferred candidates will have 1–3 years of manufacturing experience. Leer offers full-time hours, overtime, 10 paid holidays from the date of hire, and eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package after 30 days, including paid holidays, health insurance, dental, vision, short-term disability, and a 401(k) plan. Paid vacation is available after 1 year.

Requirements:

• Must have reliable transportation (public transit not accessible).
• Pass a 7-year criminal background check and drug screen.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Inspect vehicles before, during, and after each shift.
2. Maintain cleanliness of vehicle interiors and exteriors.
3. Report trailer problems or deficiencies accurately.
4. Check in daily with the Transportation Manager to discuss trailer issues.
5. Immediately report traffic accidents, injuries, inspections, or infractions.
6. Follow all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and company safety rules.
7. Hold a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with 3+ years of safe driving experience.
8. Assist loaders in the yard as needed.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• At least 21 years old.
• Valid Commercial Class A Driver's License.
• Minimum of 3 years tractor-trailer driving experience.
• High attention to detail, skill, and dexterity in vehicle control.
• Meet DOT physical and medical requirements and be subject to DOT random drug testing.

MVR and Crossing Requirements:

• Clean driving record with no violations.
• Ability to cross US/Canadian border freely.

Automatically disqualified if:

• Felony charge
• Misdemeanor charge
• DUI
