Job summary

Maxxima, a leading LED lighting solutions provider, seeks a Project Engineer to drive lighting products from concept through production. You will coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, QA, OEMs, and overseas suppliers, owning schedules, test plans, and documentation.

You will perform hands-on testing in the lab, manage risks, and ensure regulatory compliance while mentoring junior engineers and supporting growth initiatives. On-site in Hauppauge, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Excellent communication skills with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
• Experience with overseas suppliers, preferably Asia-Pacific region.
• Experience with electrical product development, testing, and continuous improvement; able to read schematics.
• Knowledge of ISO quality systems and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned engineering projects from concept through production with internal teams, OEMs, and overseas suppliers.
• Serve as point of contact with overseas suppliers for sample orders, changes, quotes, shipment tracking, and issue resolution.
• Support product evaluation with owner assignment, test plan, and documented results.
• Perform hands-on product testing, sample evaluation, and troubleshooting in a lab.
• Identify risks early, develop mitigation plans, and escalate with options and recommendations.
• Create and maintain engineering docs, specs, instruction sheets, and change documentation; ensure ISO documentation compliance.
• Analyze returned products, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions with suppliers.
• Provide technical support to Customer Service and manufacturing partners.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians; support new product development and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate hardware, firmware, and software integration for projects.
