The Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Agriculturaland Technical State University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track9-month faculty member to teach campus-based and online courses.The hire will be at the lecturer or senior lecturer facultyrank.
The position reports to the Chairperson of the Criminal JusticeDepartment and will work closely with Department and Collegeadministration, as well as faculty, to develop, deliver, andcontinuously improve high-quality, innovative undergraduate andgraduate degree programs. The successful candidate will contributeto the growth of online and hybrid learning initiatives through thedesign, implementation, and assessment of engaging,student-centered courses that support academic excellence andaccessibility. The position will provide strong foundationalsupport for new graduate programs and promote the incorporation ofinnovative instructional technologies and evidence-based teachingpractices for students specializing in criminal justice andinvestigative science.
The faculty member will teach an approved curriculum ofintroductory, advanced-level, and graduate courses in face-to-face,online, and hybrid delivery formats; develop and maintainhigh-quality online course content that meets university andaccreditation standards; foster meaningful student engagement invirtual learning environments; support students in maintainingsatisfactory academic progress; serve on thesis and dissertationcommittees; and pursue external funding opportunities. Additionalresponsibilities include participating in student recruitment andretention initiatives; advising and mentoring students; maintainingand reporting student grades and attendance, success reportingitems, and timely submission of midterm and final grades inaccordance with university policies; utilizing learning managementsystems and instructional technologies to enhance teachingeffectiveness; and performing other teaching, assessment, andcourse review duties as assigned.
This position will also carry out discipline-relatedresponsibilities as directed by the Chair or Dean, includingresearch and scholarly activity, curriculum development, programassessment, recruitment, and service to the Department, College,University, and profession. The successful candidate is expected tocontribute to the advancement of innovative teaching and learningpractices, including the continuous improvement of online educationand student success outcomes.
The Department of Criminal Justice is housed within the College ofArts, Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers a Bachelor ofScience degree in Criminal Justice and Criminal Justice with aCertificate in Crime Scene Investigation, a Master of Science and aPh.D. with four areas of specialization, Digital Forensics,Investigative Science, Social Justice, and Research Methods. TheDepartment has over 550 majors.
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences houses theDepartments of Criminal Justice, English, History and PoliticalScience, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, andVisual and Performing Arts. CAHSS is an academic unit that reportsto the Office of the Provost/Division of Academic Affairs andenrolls more than 2,000 students and has more than 160 full-timefaculty members.

The education level and experience of the individual hired willdetermine the appointment rank. Appointment at the nontenure trackrank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer requires a master’sdegree.
Also, at least four years of teaching experience and scholarlyactivity and service, preferably in a higher educationsetting.
The candidate must possess an established record of strong teachingin undergraduate and graduate level courses; ability to publish inprofessional/peer-reviewed academic journals and present researchat professional/academic conferences; a commitment to mentoringstudents and collaborating with colleagues to enhance/advance theDepartment’s research and external funding efforts.
Additionally, expertise and/or interest in digital forensics,investigative science, cybercrime, or cybersecurity ispreferable.
