The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part‑time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach MDIA 304: Global Media. The department offers two (2) bachelor’s degree programs: Communication and Media Studies. Course link: https://www.csusm.edu/communication/.

Course Description

MDIA 304: Global Media explores globalization as a historical and contested process, examining cultural, social, technological, economic, and political dimensions of media globalization. Case studies cover music, radio, video, journalism, internet, mobile phones, broadcast satellites, and points of origin, contextualized within trade, war, community development, policy making, reform, and privatization/deregulation.

  • ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with in‑person classroom instruction and LMS platforms such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field.
  • Expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as teacher of record pertinent to subject area.
  • Intercultural competence and commitment to campus community service.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full‑time month.
