The full-time lecturer position in Kinesiology provides a great opportunity to enhance one’s academic, scholarly and creative abilities. The selected candidate should be able to teach a full range of undergraduate courses within kinesiology including but not limited to biomechanics, foundations of kinesiology, exercise physiology and lab, intro to weight training, nutrition, methods and evaluation in kinesiology, etc.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Primary responsibilities include teaching four classes (12 hours) per semester within the Kinesiology discipline to undergraduate students. Must be able to teach face-to-face on campus at Fisk University. The qualified candidate will perform the following duties:Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomesPrepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handoutsEvaluates and grades students' class work, assignments, papers, and examinationsMaintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlinesBe attentive to responding to students emails within a 48-hour time frameHold office hours 5 hours/weekAcademic Advising of undergraduate studentsSPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Academic advising of undergraduate students Comprehensive knowledge of kinesiology principles, including exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor behavior, physical activity, and health promotion.Knowledge of contemporary teaching and learning strategies appropriate for undergraduate students.Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts both orally and in writing.Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and instructional technology.Ability to develop course materials, assessments, and learning activities aligned with student learning outcomes.Knowledge of student-centered advising practices and academic support resources.Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.Ability to analyze student performance data and use assessment results to improve instruction.Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.Ability to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Knowledge of current trends, research, and best practices within the field of kinesiology.Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment in accordance with university policies and procedures.Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or closely related fieldABD consideredExperience:Previous teaching in the field of Kinesiology at the collegiate level is preferred.CSCS preferred but not requiredAdditional Requirements: A letter of application, including a statement of teaching philosophy and a summary of teaching experience at the undergraduate level, will need to be provided along with a current curriculum vitae and a copy of unofficial transcripts. Additionally, the names, addresses and phone numbers of three (3) references is required of the successful applicant. Official transcripts will be required at a later stage of the search process. A background check will be required of the successful applicant.Licenses or Certificates: CSCS preferred but not required.
