Job summary

The University of Virginia’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering invites applications for a part-time Wage Lecturer to develop and teach a new course, Processing of Polymeric Materials, as a Spring 2027 elective for undergraduates.

The appointment is expected to begin in Fall 2026 (September). Total compensation for the appointment is $7,000, and the lecturer will deliver instruction, prepare materials, hold office hours, and advise students through grading and assessment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or closely related field
• Demonstrated teaching experience and/or relevant expertise in the related subject area.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) at the University of Virginia invites applications for a part-time Wage Lecturer position. The successful candidate will collaborate with DMSE faculty to develop a new course, Processing of Polymeric Materials, and subsequently teach the course as a Special Topics elective for undergraduate students during the Spring 2027 semester.
