Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Computer Information Systems & Cyber Security Systems for the 2026-2027 academic year. The pool will remain online to hire interested part-time faculty as needed during the year.

Candidates will teach CIS and Cyber Security Systems courses, prepare syllabi and assessments, and participate in department activities. Base pay is $2,900–$3,500 per 3-hour course, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to teach CIS and Cyber Security Systems courses at a college level.
  • Ability to deliver online instruction using instructional technology.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as needed.
  • Ability to incorporate technology into teaching.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare course outlines and teach Computer Information Systems and/or Cyber Security Systems courses as assigned by department based on approved departmental syllabi; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures, incorporating technology into teaching.
  • Follow common syllabus, utilizing online homework system and learning management system.
  • Prepare and administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned courses.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and to answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically).
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook policies and processes including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering invites part-time faculty candidates for Lecturer in Computer Information Systems & Cyber Security Systems. The School offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems or Cyber Security Systems. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the university include teaching and professional activities as assigned.This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed during the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

Essential Functions
