The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor invites applications for a full-time Lecturer III in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with a three-year appointment beginning Winter 2027 or later. The lecturer will teach core undergraduate courses in one of two focus areas: statics, mechanics, and mechanics of materials, or thermodynamics and heat transfer.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with significant teaching experience and/or substantial professional experience is acceptable.

Responsabilités

• Teach core undergraduate courses in the identified focus areas (statics, mechanics, mechanics of materials or thermodynamics and heat transfer).
• Develop and deliver lectures, assignments, labs, and assessments aligned with course objectives.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback, hold office hours, and support students with diverse backgrounds.
• Coordinate multi-section courses with faculty, graduate students, and staff to ensure content consistency.
• Evaluate student learning and contribute to continual course improvement and curricula.
• Engage in departmental service such as curriculum development and instructional committees.
