Job summary

Youngstown State University (YSU) seeks a dedicated educator to serve as an academic partner in a cooperative education program with Jilin Jianzhu University (JLJU).

The role includes teaching undergraduate courses at JLJU and on the YSU main campus, delivering YSU-approved curriculum, and contributing to curriculum implementation, student success, program assessment, accreditation, and related academic activities that support the university’s operation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a closely related engineering discipline and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Job description

Serve as a dedicated academic partner to the Jilin Jianzhu University (JLJU) – Youngstown State University (YSU) cooperative education programs. Teach undergraduate courses at JLJU in China and as assigned, on the Youngstown State University (YSU) main campus. Deliver YSU-approved curriculum in accordance with YSU academic standards and contributes to curriculum implementation, student success, program assessment, accreditation, and other academic activities that support the successful operation, quality, and continuous improvement. Participate in department, college, and university service activities.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule:Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Minimum Qualifications:At least an earned Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline, and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:5 years or more of Industrial experience.

Physical Requirements:In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.

Sedentary:work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met.
