Fayetteville State University invites applications for a renewable one-year, fixed-term position at the rank of Lecturer/Adjunct Assistant Professor of English, beginning Spring 2027. The selected candidate will teach the core curriculum and major program courses in the Department of English.

Assignments will center on composition with occasional courses in creative writing (memoir, poetry, children’s literature, short fiction, and creative nonfiction).

Qualifications

• Master's degree in English from an accredited institution.
• Terminal degree in English from an accredited institution.
• Two years of college-level teaching experience (for Adjunct Assistant Professor).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the core curriculum as well as major English programs.
• Typically teach composition with occasional courses in creative writing (memoir, poetry, children’s literature, short prose fiction, and creative nonfiction).
• Collaborate with colleagues to advance undergraduate teaching and assessment.
