Job Description: Upper School Science Teacher (Physics)—Full time OR Part time leave replacement December 2026–February 2027
Overview
Dwight-Englewood School, the largest independent school in Bergen County, NJ, and a growing, vibrant, and diverse learning community in the New York City metro area, is seeking to fill a full-time leave replacement Upper School Science teaching position during the 2026–2027 school year. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of physics.
The STEM Center, which opened in 2015, houses the Science and Mathematics Departments, complete with 8 science labs, 7 mathematics classrooms, a greenhouse, and an innovation lab for robotics and other programs. This 30,000 square foot facility was designed with purposeful collaboration between the architects and the faculty and represents the best in planning for the future of science and mathematics education.
Actively support the Mission of the School and put that vision into daily practice.
If full time , teach 4 sections of Science:
If part time , teach 3 sections of Science:
Attend weekly departmental and/or divisional meetings after school.
Participate in activities as required.
Provide extra help for students as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned, such as lunch supervision, etc.
This is a full-time leave replacement teaching position, expected to begin December 1, 2026 and end February 28, 2027.
Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory.
Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. These meetings may go as late as 5 pm.
Salaries are based on years of experience and education level. The full-time salary range for this position based on the requirements stated above is $1700 to $2200 per week. The part-time rate would be prorated. If you are invited for an initial screening, we will let you know where your salary falls on our scale.
