Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Special Education Teacher for a leave replacement position working with middle school students in a self-contained setting. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with multiple disabilities, including autism, and a passion for creating a structured, inclusive environment that promotes academic, social, and functional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Instruction & Environment: Design and maintain a structured, nurturing, self-contained classroom tailored to students with developmental and cognitive disabilities.
• Curriculum Implementation: Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies, accommodations, and adaptive techniques to help students reach individual academic, social, and behavioral goals.
• IEP Management & Progress Monitoring: Track, document, and evaluate student progress; adjust instructional methods as needed and participate actively in IEP meetings.
• Collaboration: Partner with general educators, therapists, specialists, and families to deliver a cohesive, supportive educational experience.
• Classroom Management: Establish a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom culture while adhering to school policies on behavior tracking and reporting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification with a Special Education endorsement (e.g., Teacher of Students with Disabilities / TOESD).
