Job summary

The Neiders Company LLC in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Leasing Consultant to drive occupancy and provide outstanding service to prospective and current residents. You will guide tours, process applications, and maintain accurate leasing files while upholding Fair Housing policies.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in leasing or customer service, strong communication, and a willingness to assist across operations. Bilingual Spanish is highly preferred and a valid driver’s license is required.

  • Minimum 2 years of leasing or relevant customer service experience; multifamily preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead leasing activities including tours, calls, and follow-up to achieve occupancy targets.
  • Screen applicants, process verifications, and explain lease terms clearly.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and support resident relations to reduce turnover.
  • Assist with marketing, online listings, signage, and outreach strategies.
  • Support rent collection and coordinate with maintenance for timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain compliant documentation and follow Fair Housing and internal policies.

Job Summary:

The Leasing Consultant plays an important role in the day-to-day operations and overall success of one of our smaller multifamily communities. This hands-on position focuses on driving occupancy, contributing to property performance, and creating a positive experience for both prospective and current residents.

Key responsibilities include guiding prospective residents through the full leasing process, delivering excellent customer service, assisting with resident relations, maintaining accurate leasing and resident documentation, and ensuring compliance with Fair Housing requirements and company policies. Success in this role requires strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and a team-focused approach with a willingness to assist wherever needed to help the community operate successfully.

Essential Functions: (Include but are not limited to)
Leasing & Sales
  • Conduct all leasing activities, including tours, phone/email communication, and prospect follow-up.
  • Achieve occupancy and leasing KPI targets, including closing ratio, traffic conversion, and resident retention.
  • Explain lease terms, community policies, and pricing clearly and professionally.
  • Ensure models, amenities, and office areas are maintained in show-ready condition.
Tenant Screening Leasing
  • Process rental applications, screening reports, credit/background checks, and verifications.
  • Process rental applications and screening results in accordance with established company policies and approval criteria.
Customer Service & Resident Relations
  • Maintain an upbeat, welcoming, and solutions-oriented approach in all interactions.
  • Build rapport with residents to support retention and reduce turnover.
  • Assist in resolving resident concerns and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and cultural awareness with diverse populations.
  • Engage with local community resources, service providers, and partner organizations when appropriate to support resident needs.
Marketing & Outreach
  • Support online marketing efforts, including posting/updating listings, managing photos, and responding to leads.
  • Assist with social media engagement, resident referral campaigns, signage, and outreach marketing strategies.
  • Highlight community features, amenities, and value propositions tailored to the target demographic.
Rent Collection Support
  • Support rent collection processes by assisting with follow-up communication related to delinquencies.
  • Maintain professionalism and compliance in all payment-related conversations.
Maintenance Coordination
  • Enter, track, and follow up on maintenance requests through the property management system.
  • Partner with the maintenance team to ensure timely communication and issue resolution.
Conflict Resolution
  • Handle difficult resident situations with diplomacy, patience, and professionalism.
  • De-escalate issues effectively and involve management or law enforcement only when necessary to ensure safety.
Documentation & Compliance
    Maintain accurate and organized lease files, notices, communication logs, and resident records.
  • Support move-in and move-out processes, including walkthroughs and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing, state/local landlord-tenant laws, and internal policies.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of leasing or relevant customer service experience; multifamily preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing requirements preferred; ability to learn and consistently follow applicable requirements and company policies.
  • Proficiency with property management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • English proficiency required; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently walk throughout the apartment community, including leasing offices, amenities, parking areas, and grounds.
  • Climb stairs and navigate multi-story buildings as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, packages, signage, and supplies).
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and scanners. Work both indoors and outdoors, with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
