Job summary

Cheshire Public Schools is seeking a Learning Support Tutor to provide targeted intervention in reading and math for students not yet at grade level. The LST works with individuals or small groups, following a schedule and protocol provided by certified teachers and the school principal.

This district-wide assignment for the 26-27 school year at Barnum Elementary School runs 20 hours per week (Tuesday–Friday).

Qualifications

• College degree (teaching certification preferred).
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of reading and writing skill building.
• Knowledge of foundational math concepts.
• Knowledge of progress monitoring measures (eg. reading fluency and comprehension).
• Experience working with elementary students.

Responsibilities

• Provide intervention and instruction to students not yet performing at grade level in reading or math.
• Work with individual students or small groups following a schedule and protocol from certified teachers and the school principal.
• Conduct progress monitoring assessments and data entry.
