Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Learning Support Practitioner to join the Foundation Learning and ALS department at Bedford College. You will provide personalised SEND support, monitor learner progress, and work with tutors and external professionals to ensure individual needs are met effectively.

Qualifications include Level 3 in Learning Support and Level 2 Maths/English, with experience in FE settings.

Qualifications

• Qualifications & SEND Knowledge - Level 3 qualification in Learning Support, with Level 2 Maths and English and knowledge of current SEND reforms.
• SEND & Educational Support Experience - Experience supporting learners with SEND and additional needs in educational settings with FE knowledge.
• Communication, Digital & Record-Keeping Skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office; observe and report learner progress accurately.
• Learner-Centred & Inclusive Practice - Build relationships, promote independence, resilience and self-advocacy.
• Flexibility, Safeguarding & Mobility - Flexible, safeguarding-focused, full UK driving licence and mobility.

Responsibilities

• Personalised SEND Support - Provide tailored support to learners with SEND across classroom, practical and community settings.
• Learning Progress & Outcomes - Monitor, record and report learner progress with evidence-based feedback.
• Inclusive Practice & Learner Development - Implement strategies to support communication, behaviour and study skills.
• Partnership Working & Collaboration - Work with teachers, ALS staff, families, therapists and external professionals.
• Continuous Improvement & Safeguarding - Contribute to high-quality SEND provision and uphold safeguarding and wellbeing.
