Job summary

Roxbury Community College in Boston, MA is seeking three Learning Specialist - Professional Tutor positions. The role supports the Learning Center with supplemental instruction across subjects, including CS, Radiology, Biology, ESOL, and more. The position reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Students and MAIPSEI.

Hours total 18.5 per week; compensation is $35.31 per hour. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or higher and strong computer skills, with multilingual experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental instruction in listed subject areas and be available for tutoring appointments and drop-ins.
• Help students develop effective study habits and monitor progress.
• Submit regular documentation of tutoring sessions and maintain progress reports.
• Communicate with staff, faculty, and students and attend tutor trainings.
• Assist students with RCC online platforms (My RCC and Canvas).
• Meet with supervisor to discuss tutoring feedback and duties.
• Focus fully on duties and student sessions as required.

Position Summary

This is a part-time position in the Roxbury Community College Learning Center. This individual will work closely with the Coordinator of Academic Support and MAIPSEI and will directly report to the Senior Associate Dean of Students. The Learning Center is seeking general applicants who can provide supplemental instruction in the following subject areas. This list is not exhaustive:

• Computer science and Microsoft Applications
• Radiological Technology
• Writing and Research
• Biology, Anatomy and Physiology
• ESOL
• Statistics and various levels of Calculus

In addition to providing supplemental instruction in a specialized area, all Professional Tutors are expected to:

• Assist students with learning and reviewing subject material during scheduled. tutoring appointments and drop-in tutoring sessions.
• Assist students with developing good study habits.
• Monitor student progress and maintain progress reports.
• Submit regular documentation of tutoring sessions.
• Communicate regularly with staff, faculty, and students.
• Attend tutor training sessions.
• Assist students with accessing and learning RCC online platforms, including My RCC and Canvas.
• Meet with supervisor to discuss tutor feedback.
• Able to provide full focus and attention to duties and student sessions.
• Comply with the duties as stipulated in the Massachusetts Community College Council Collective Bargaining Agreement.
