Job Description:

Job Title: Adjunct Instructors English

Unit: DCE

Department: Liberal Arts

Reports to: Assistant Dean of Liberal Arts

RCC is looking for qualified instructors in English (especially composition and/or literature) teach online courses. Responsibilities may include developing quality course materials, supporting and encouraging student effort, grading student work and providing substantive feedback in a timely manner, using the Canvas learning management system to enhance learning and organization, and other related duties.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction of his/her assigned course(s)
• Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students' academic growth and guides their professional development.
• Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson plans.
• Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.
• Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments in a timely manner to students.
• Utilize impactful instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available resources.
• Follow a syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
• Meet with and advise students before and after class or by appointment.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in a field relevant to the course(s) taught.
• Teaching experience at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
• Familiarity with Canvas or other LMSs.
• Teaching experience at a community college.
• Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles.
• Experience with online teaching and OER.
