Job summary

Archmere Academy seeks a dedicated Learning Specialist to provide individualized academic support for students with accommodations within the Student Learning & Resource Center. The role collaborates with counselors, teachers, and parents to tailor learning strategies and monitor progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Education required; Master's preferred.
  • Experience guiding students in a rigorous high school curriculum.
  • Extensive knowledge of learning differences and evidence-informed practices.
  • Familiarity with College Board/ACT accommodations processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with students, families, and school staff.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset for program assessment and improvements.
  • Ability to conduct psychoeducational testing or baseline assessment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized academic support for students with accommodations, supervising testing and coordinating a small-group study space.
  • Help students develop effective learning strategies and executive functioning; build relationships.
  • Write Formal Education Plans based on psychoeducational testing reports.
  • Submit accommodation requests to College Board and ACT; assist with proctoring.
  • Collaborate with Counselors, Principal, and Director of Academics on study skills programs; contribute to Summer Enrichment for incoming 9th graders.
  • Stay current with teaching methods, cognitive science, and educational psychology; support staff and parents with resources and training.
  • Maintain relationships with psychologists and neuropsychologists as a referral base.
  • Coordinate peer tutors with the National Honor Society.
  • Generate teaching resources for the school community when possible.
