Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Learning Specialist II to design and deliver structured, evidence-based learning interventions for student-athletes. You will provide targeted instruction in reading, study skills, time management and engagement, while collaborating with Academic Coordinators to tailor plans and monitor progress.

This on-site role may require evenings, weekends, and holidays; priority given to candidates with strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in screening

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• At least one year of college-level tutoring, teaching, or student learning support.
• Ability to work with students needing varying levels of academic support.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive information.
• Familiarity with academic screening tools and diagnostic assessments.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements structured, evidence-based, individualized learning interventions for assigned student-athletes.
• Provides instruction in reading comprehension, note taking, test taking, time management, study skills, concentration, memory, motivation, and engagement.
• Proactively seeks out student-athletes for assistance and supplemental instruction in courses as needed.
• Collaborates with Academic Coordinators to determine caseload and develop individualized learning plans.
• Communicates with staff, students, and coaches regarding academic progress, concerns, and recommendations.
• Administers and interprets academic screenings for learning or attention needs.
