Learning Specialist II - Nurse Education Full Time Days
Position Summary
Prepares team members to be safe, efficient, and competent in their duties by providing both general and specialty-specific education.
Responsibilities
- Enhance clinical competence of team members using an Education Action Plan and annual Needs Assessment.
- Develop and coordinate orientation processes for assigned areas, collaborating with orientees, preceptors, and nursing leadership.
- Participate in quality and safety initiatives to improve practice and meet standards.
- Assess ongoing competence of clinical team members in collaboration with Corporate Education.
- Plan, develop, evaluate unit-specific educational programs to improve skills and knowledge.
- Ensure all programs incorporate adult learning principles.
- Support team member involvement in professional activities.
- Maintain proficiency through direct nursing practice.
- Engage in professional organizations to demonstrate accountability.
- Contribute to clinical evaluations and participate in hiring processes.
- Facilitate professional development via educational courses.
- Educate on organizational and regulatory policies to ensure compliance.
- Utilize evidence-based practices aligned with research and standards.
- Communicate ideas effectively in verbal and written forms.
- Promote and communicate change effectively.
- Complete Sunrise documentation training and maintain EMR competency.
- Participate in educational presentations, including core specialty courses and guest lectures.
- Develop test questions for the Annual Clinical Review (ACR) and facilitate skills assessments.
- Serve as a preceptor for Learning Specialist I roles.
- Participate in committees and initiatives influencing organizational outcomes.
- Engage in professional development to enhance effectiveness.
- Create opportunities for developing critical thinking and reasoning skills.
- Provide growth programs for preceptors.
- Use assessments to plan orientation effectively.
- Apply research and evidence-based guidelines to address learning needs.
- Coordinate with student placements and communicate with nursing instructors.
- Maintain regular attendance and compliance with policies and standards.
Other Related Functions
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- Understand legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
- Assist in budget planning.
- Act as liaison for educational initiatives across departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Master's degree in Nursing from an approved program.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Florida RN license; within two years, obtain specialty certification if applicable; BLS, ALS, PALS, NRP as required.
- Experience: At least five years in acute care, including three in the specific functional area, and one year in an educational role.
