Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking an experienced Learning Experience Designer to drive strategic learning initiatives. The role develops, delivers and evaluates learning solutions that advance workforce development, quality outcomes and patient safety across the network.

The designer collaborates with leaders and departments, manages content in the LMS, and builds metrics dashboards to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred for advanced instructional design.
  • Experience with multiple delivery media and portfolio preferred.

The Learning Experience Designer serves as a strategic learning and performance consultant responsible for the design, development, implementation, management, and evaluation of innovative learning solutions that support workforce development, operational excellence, quality outcomes, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and organizational growth.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consults with leaders and stakeholders to assess learning and performance needs through needs assessments, workflow analyses, task analyses, and learner assessments.

Identifies root causes of performance gaps and recommends learning and non-learning solutions that support organizational goals.

Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self‑paced learning solutions.

Creates curricula, facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, simulations, assessments, videos, and eLearning content using adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.

Aligns educational initiatives with organizational strategy and operational objectives.

Serves as a trusted advisor and collaborates with leaders, Performance Improvement, Operational Excellence, Quality, and other stakeholders to support workforce development, performance improvement, and change management initiatives.

Administers and maintains learning management system (LMS) content, curricula, certifications, learning paths, competency assignments, and learning events.

Monitors compliance requirements, learner progress, and completion tracking to support regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and organizational requirements.

Develops reporting dashboards and analyzes learning and performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement.

Curates and maintains enterprise learning resources and evaluates emerging learning technologies to enhance the learner experience.

Leads and manages multiple learning and workforce development projects simultaneously.

Develops project plans, budgets, milestones, resource requirements, and communication strategies; facilitates stakeholder reviews; manages project risks; and ensures timely completion of deliverables.

Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.

Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Requires sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 2 hours at a time.

Standing for up to 4 hours per day, 3 hours at a time.

Requires occasional fingering, handling, and twisting and turning while entering data into the computer.

Occasionally requires lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Occasionally requires reaching above shoulder level.

Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation, seeing as it relates to general, peripheral and near vision, visual monotony.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3+ years’ experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or a similar role required.

Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and best practices.

Experience developing learning programs across multiple delivery media, including in‑person training, remote synchronous training, and online modules.

Portfolio preferred.

Experience in writing, editing, and proofreading educational content.

Experience with digital development tools and graphic design software, including Microsoft Office Suite and more.

Highly proficient in time management, collaboration, organization, planning, and prioritization.
