Job summary

ExxonMobil, a global energy leader, is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to design, integrate, and continuously improve enterprise training systems that build technical workforce capability and operational readiness.

You will design learning across instructor-led, digital, simulation, and hands-on environments; apply adult learning theory; partner with SMEs and leaders to translate complex work into scalable training; and drive evaluation to improve safety and business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years' Instructional Design experience to include strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional models (e.g., ADDIE), and curriculum development
  • A minimum of three years' experience in Technical Writing to include the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, engaging learning materials
  • Capable of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Design integrated learning solutions across instructor‑led, digital, simulation, laboratory, and field‑based environments
  • Apply adult learning theory and competency‑based design to ensure measurable job performance and safety outcomes
  • Partner with subject matter experts and operational leaders to translate technical work into scalable learning solutions

  • Ensure instructional quality, rigor, and alignment with operational, regulatory, and business requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to instructional designers and training developers.

What role you will play on our team

The Senior Instructional Designer is accountable for designing, integrating, and continuously improving enterprise training systems that build technical workforce capability and operational readiness. This role ensures learning solutions are performance‑based, scalable, and aligned with real‑world job demands, safety expectations, and business outcomes.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to assess training needs and evaluate learning outcomes to recommend improvements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
