Job summary

Rocky View Schools (RVS) in Langdon invites applications for a continuing, full-time Learning Assistant position (30 hrs/wk) starting immediately. The role supports students with diverse needs in classroom, school, and community settings, collaborating with teachers to adapt programs and promote health, learning, and independence.

Reporting to the Principal, you will assist with individualized plans, data collection, behavior support, and personal care activities as directed, while maintaining

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or related diploma.
• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour, or willingness to become certified.
• Minimum one year experience working with students with challenging behavior.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified.
• Equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to students as identified in individualized plans including those requiring additional supports such as personal, medical care, lifts, transfers and safety needs.
• Implements and reinforces strategies as directed by teachers and in student plans.
• Records observations and collects data on behavioral challenges to guide positive behavior strategies.
• Participates in collaborative planning meetings for student planning.
• Assists with preparation of individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promotes student learning, belonging and independence.
• Assists with emotional and behavioral regulation as directed.
• Maintains confidentiality and privacy of student and personnel information.
• Supports routine personal care activities and daily living tasks.
• Assists in exercising, adaptive physical education, range of motion, and motor skills development as directed.
