Job summary

LifeSource in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Manager of Learning & Development to lead the governance, design, development, deployment, and evaluation of organizational learning programs across clinical and non-clinical teams. Description

LifeSource is hiring a Manager of Learning & Development (L&D) to be responsible for overseeing the governance, design, development, deployment, administration/operations, and continuous improvement of all organizational learning and educational programs (clinical and non-clinical). This role provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's learning ecosystem, including onboarding, competency management, preceptor programs, simulation-based education, continuing education, learning technologies, knowledge management, and educational governance. The Manager leads and guides all Learning & Development team members to achieve departmental and organizational strategic and operational goals while improving the development, competency, and productivity of LifeSource team members.

Working closely with the Director of People & Culture, clinical and operational leaders, subject matter experts, and other key stakeholders, the Manager assesses organizational learning and development needs, establishes learning priorities, and oversees the design, development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of learning solutions that support work procedures, product use, safety, customer service, leadership development, regulatory compliance, and other organizational priorities.

This position partners with the Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator to support the effective administration and continuous improvement of the organization's learning technology ecosystem. This role collaborates on learning strategy, knowledge management, knowledge transfer, and leveraging the LMS to improve organizational performance.

As a Manager of Learning & Development, you'll advance our lifesaving mission by performing the following duties:
Training Department Oversight
  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for the Learning & Development function, overseeing departmental operations, team members, learning technologies, and the design, development, and delivery of organizational learning programs.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise learning governance framework, establishing standards for curriculum design, instructional methodology, competency management, simulation, educational documentation, and quality assurance.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of LifeSource's training systems and infrastructure to build a high-performing, quality-centered learning organization.
  • Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture, subject matter experts (SMEs), and key stakeholders to assess organizational learning needs, identify performance gaps, develop standardized best practices, and design, coordinate, and deliver targeted departmental training.
  • Identify and implement ways to reinforce and sustain ongoing learning and embed it throughout existing content to increase learner retention.
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify organizational learning needs, establish educational priorities, and align learning initiatives with organizational strategy.
  • Develop and implement systems to monitor and maintain learning content accuracy.
  • Oversee knowledge management and knowledge transfer processes while ensuring learning programs, competency documentation, and training systems comply with organizational policies, regulatory, accreditation, processor, and customer requirements. Maintain audit readiness and oversee corrective actions related to education and competency findings.
  • Recommend and coordinate outside training services and learning resources.
  • Work with department leaders to develop employee competency assessments.
  • Establish, monitor, and report learning and development metrics to evaluate program effectiveness, learner readiness, competency completion, compliance, LMS utilization, and other key performance indicators, using data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Lead, guide, and mentor team members toward successful execution of work processes, engaging cross departmentally as appropriate, to achieve mission and goals.
  • Team Engagement: Lead and engage in regular individual and team meetings to review programs, activities, and accomplishments and provide timely and critical information needed for the team’s success.
  • Cultural Leadership: Lead, model, and engage in activities and initiatives related to organizational culture, talent development, and partner engagement, including integration of equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor team members to encourage professional development and goal achievement.
  • Performance Management: Effectively manage team member performance through documented coaching, identifying areas of opportunity, recognition, job change, salary administration, and performance appraisal process.
  • Training: Support effective team member training and competency measurement for their position and required work processes.
  • Direct work planning, scheduling, managing time sheets, time off requests, expense reports, etc., to ensure adequate capacity and adherence to policies.
  • Engage in recruitment and selection of highly skilled team members.
  • Collaborate with other leaders on guiding team members and key work processes.
  • Accountability Culture: Manage team members by modeling and promoting a culture of accountability and integrity in service to internal and external customers.
  • Oversee and conduct timely internal audits of the training and education function, and provide training records and documentation for external audits to ensure compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participates in performance excellence initiatives. Recommend modifications or improvements to current training programs and processes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Actively participates as a member of the leadership team.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all donors, recipients, and employee information.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7 years in training, education, learning and development, or leadership development.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ proven leadership, mentoring and coaching experience.
  • Experience leading learning teams or enterprise learning functions.
  • Experience partnering with clinical SMEs in regulated healthcare environments.
  • Experience with LMS administration, competency management, and learning analytics.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, competency assessment, evaluation methodologies, and change management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software, including but not limited to, Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook – Intermediate to Advanced skills) required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills including effective written correspondence, polished presentation and facilitation skills, active listening, and professional customer service response at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
  • Ability to lead a team, coordinate internal and external resources, and achieve measurable results against specific goals.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-directed, motivated contributor with ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal savvy capabilities, building, maintaining, motivating, influencing, and achieving cooperation with both internal and external relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA.
WORKING CONDITIONS/SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time exempt position, based out of Minneapolis, MN. Will work on-site hybrid. Occasional travel, as needed.

Projected offer range:

$101,500-125k/annually, based on relevant experience.
