Job description

About Matter Health

Matter Health delivers primary and preventive healthcare directly to older adults living in affordable housing communities. Our mission is simple: to improve healthcare access by meeting patients where they are and building trusted relationships within the communities we serve. As we rapidly expand across the country, we are building a team of mission-driven professionals who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Total Healthcare. Where you live.

About the Role

Matter Health is seeking an experienced Learning Design & Delivery Manager to own role-based learning across our clinical and non-clinical teams.

In this position, you will design curricula, personally deliver training, manage our learning management system, partner with leaders to measure whether learning is improving performance, and make changes when it is not. You will also help maintain SOPs and ensure employees receive accurate, current information as our organization evolves.

This is not a back-office, design-only position. You will spend time with frontline employees, observe how work is performed, collaborate directly with clinical and operational leaders, and travel to Matter Health’s markets to support training and new-market launches.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on Learning and Development professional who enjoys building from the ground up, working through ambiguity, solving performance problems, and seeing their work reflected in employee success.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build role-based curricula for clinical and non-clinical teams using adult-learning principles and clearly defined performance outcomes
  • Develop onboarding programs that combine orientation, role-specific learning, structured on-the-job training, and ongoing performance support
  • Personally deliver engaging in-person and virtual instructor-led training for employees with different roles and experience levels
  • Translate complex clinical and operational information into clear, accessible, and practical learning materials
  • Partner with subject-matter experts and business leaders to extract knowledge, validate content, and keep training aligned with current operations
  • Own the learning management system, including content organization, training assignments, completion tracking, reporting, and learner records
  • Write, organize, and maintain SOPs, job aids, training materials, and other knowledge resources
  • Monitor new-employee progress during the first 90 days and partner with managers to identify and address performance concerns early
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessment results, field observation, work-product review, learner feedback, and post-training performance
  • Diagnose why learning is not producing the intended outcome and implement targeted improvements, retraining, coaching, or performance support
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching to employees who require additional support
  • Spend regular time in the field shadowing frontline employees to understand how work is actually performed
  • Travel nationally to support new-market launches, in-person training, field observation, and retraining needs
  • Support employees and leaders through changing processes, systems, SOPs, and performance expectations
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to anticipate business changes and identify learning needs before they become urgent
  • Use learning technologies, including appropriate AI-enabled tools, to create engaging and effective learning solutions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, Instructional Design/Technology, or a related field
  • Five or more years of professional Learning and Development experience with demonstrated ownership of both design and delivery
  • Proven experience building role-based curricula from the ground up—not solely updating existing materials
  • Experience personally facilitating training in both in-person and virtual environments
  • Direct LMS ownership or administration experience
  • Healthcare-industry experience; clinical depth is not required, but an understanding of the healthcare environment is essential
  • Experience writing and maintaining SOPs, job aids, and knowledge-management resources
  • Strong knowledge of adult-learning principles and instructional-design practices
  • Experience measuring training effectiveness and evaluating employee performance after training
  • Experience partnering with subject-matter experts and leaders across different departments
  • Experience supporting organizational or process change in a fast-moving environment
  • Proficiency with learning technologies, including practical use of AI-enabled tools
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, organization, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt as business needs change
  • Executive presence and credibility with senior leaders
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and spend regular time with frontline teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal adult-learning, instructional-design, or performance-improvement certification through ATD, ISPI, or a similar organization
  • Experience designing training for clinical, field-based, or highly regulated roles
  • Experience supporting new-market or organizational launches
  • Experience designing learning for roles beyond a single department or function
  • Experience using learner and performance data to improve curricula and training delivery
What Success Looks Like
  • Building practical, role-based learning that reflects how work is actually performed
  • Delivering engaging training that prepares employees to succeed in their roles
  • Maintaining an organized, accurate, and current LMS and learning-resource library
  • Establishing strong working relationships with clinical, operational, and corporate leaders
  • Identifying learning and performance gaps before they become larger business problems
  • Helping new employees reach proficiency more quickly
  • Using employee-performance data and field observations to continuously improve learning
  • Supporting consistent training across Matter Health’s markets
  • Operating as a proactive business partner—not simply responding to training requests
  • Remaining flexible, collaborative, and hands-on as organizational needs evolve
Work Location

This is a hybrid position based in either Nashville or Memphis, Tennessee. Team members are expected to work onsite approximately three days per week.

National travel and regular time in the field are required to observe frontline teams, support new-market launches, and deliver in-person training.
