Job summary

LS Starrett Company seeks a Continuous Improvement Engineer to lead Lean initiatives across manufacturing operations. You will coach teams, implement standardized work, 5S, and waste reduction, and drive data-driven problem solving for sustained excellence.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance while fostering a culture of employee involvement and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (related field) is preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, quality or engineering in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Toyota Production System, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standardized Work, Root Cause Analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills; strong project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and structured problem solving.
• Analyze processes and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and process improvements.
