Job summary

ITT Inc.’s Engineered Valves site in Lancaster, PA is hiring Lean Technicians for 2nd shift to polish hygienic valve bodies and support production flow. You will inspect, measure, and finish parts to tight tolerances, read shop orders, and document results.

You’ll use profilometer, calipers, and gauges, participate in Kaizen, and keep work areas 6S compliant while coordinating with Quality, Production and Maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; basic computer knowledge.
  • Prior production/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect production materials to ensure conformance to quality specs.
  • Polish valve bodies to specified finishes (35, 25, 20, 15, 11Ra).
  • Certify polished parts and document acceptance or rejection.
  • Operate air-powered tools and finishing equipment.
  • Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain 6S standards and a clean, safe work area.
  • Read shop orders and obtain drawings/instructions as needed.
  • Track timekeeping and labor using barcode systems; clock in/out.
  • Communicate with Environmental Health & Safety, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Facilities/Maintenance.
  • Train others as Lean Tech I.

Position Summary

The Engineered Valves site in Lancaster, PA develops and manufactures valves serving the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Nuclear industries. Lean Technicians are responsible for polishing our hygienic valve products, while performing other production related activities for all goods manufactured by flowing the product at the pull of the customer. Responsible for the inspection and quality of the products produced at the Lancaster site. This is a 2nd shift position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the inspection of production and manufacturing materials to ensure conformance and quality specifications are met. Any defective part or materials should be given to the Inspector, Quality or Production Supervisor.

  • Manually or automatically polishes all standard and custom-designed body configurations to finishes of 35, 25, 20, 15, and 11Ra or as specified by the customer.
  • Utilizes different types of measuring instruments to perform dimensional and surface finish examinations such as profilometer, dial calipers, wall thickness gauges and other inspection equipment to insure the finish level.
  • Certifies the quality of the polished bodies to industry standards and indicates acceptance or rejection by completion of proper documentation upon completion of polish work.
  • Operates air-powered tools and other finishing equipment, small hand tools, and lifting tables and hoists.
  • Participates in Kaizen events, providing suggestions or ideas for continuous improvements projects to improve productivity.
  • Follows company Environmental, Health and Safety, quality and process policies. Reports safety incidents, near misses, or any safety concerns to supervisor.
  • Performs Sustain activities to assure that all 6S areas are maintained and assures a clean and safe work area.
  • Reads and interprets shop orders and obtains drawings and other instructions needed per the individual shop order.
  • Accesses the Dimensions timekeeping system for productivity tracking; utilizes the bar code system to perform accurate labor tracking. Clocks in and out times to ensure accurate attendance transactions for payroll.
  • Communicates with department personnel as well as with all other supporting departments such as Environmental Safety & Health, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Facilities/Maintenance.

Position Requirements

Attention to detail – All of our sanitary valves go through a 100% inspection process (which is kind of mentioned in one of the lines) after polish.

Ability to work under pressure – The customers might ask us to expedite and order, so employees should be able to finish the work in a timely manner when circumstances like these arise.

Strong organizational and communication skills, analytical experience and problem solving. Must be self-motivated, independent, and flexible to frequently changing tasks and priorities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent related experience. Basic knowledge of computer operation. Prior experience in production or manufacturing, and use of hand production tools, strongly preferred.
