GE HealthCare in Madison, AL is seeking a Lean Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Co-Op to learn and teach Lean tools on the shop floor. You will drive problem solving, daily management, and kaizen events tied to the Madison Transformation Plan, focusing on Safety and Efficiency of the Anesthesia Production Line and flow of test assembly stations.

The Lean Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering Co-Op in Madison will have the opportunity to learn and eventually teach Lean, driving problem solving and continuous improvement throughout the site. Work will incorporate aspects of daily management, short-term problem solving, and long-term projects and kaizen events tied to the Madison Transformation Plan. Key focuses include developing processes to support Safety and Efficiency of Anesthesia Production Line, transforming the production and flow of test assembly stations, and the incorporation of the Heartbeat Business System.
In addition to the above, improvement opportunities they support may include: operation work sequence operation work content work-in-process inventory material handling problem solving training daily management. The Co-Op will learn and teach others Lean tools such as: 5S Visual Management Setup Reduction Value Stream Mapping Standard Work Error-Proofing. Co-Ops will also have opportunities for training, networking, and best practice sharing both internal and external to the Madison site.
Enrollment at an accredited college or university (Bachelor's preferred) Target majors include Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations Management Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms Strong initiative and ability to work independently and in teams Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a diverse team
Prior intern or co-op experience in the manufacturing space, preferably on a shop floor Demonstrated analytical ability Proven leadership skills and experience Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Creative problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box
