Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in San Diego, CA to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations, using Lean methodologies to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency. You will lead cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives while mentoring teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Operations, Engineering, and Quality, developing SOPs, and reducing lead times in assembly and test processes to achieve operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of electronics manufacturing engineering experience.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings, PCB construction/design/manufacturing, and test fixture design for electronic devices.
• Due to IntelliPower programs, must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. and access export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

• Apply Lean principles to establish work instruction standards for assembly and test to improve productivity, quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Quality to build continuous improvement strategies.
• Lead strategic initiatives for cost reduction, quality improvement, and operational efficiency.
• Facilitate change in a fast-paced environment using strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Develop SOPs, create workflow diagrams, and reduce manufacturing lead times in assembly.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and training on Lean methodologies to project teams.
• Identify Kaizens and manage continuous improvement events with manufacturing leadership.
• Improve equipment reliability focusing on bottlenecks and critical equipment.
