Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a permanent, onsite role in Owatonna, MN. The engineer will analyze, develop, and improve manufacturing processes to boost quality, reduce waste, and increase productivity while applying lean methodologies across production and new product introduction.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, with strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and ERP/MRP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and materials.
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP/CRM systems.
  • Lean manufacturing and process improvement experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and optimize productivity.
  • Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline production operations.
  • Drive capital projects with ROI analysis and lead implementation.
  • Design and modify tools, fixtures, and equipment for safe, cost-effective operations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Develop quality standards, inspection protocols, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare CAD drawings and layouts for production and engineering.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product development and manufacturability.
  • Document processes and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
