Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Lean Engineer to drive foundational and transformational lean competencies across the plant. You will partner with Operations and the Lean Manufacturing Supervisor to reduce cost, improve safety and quality, and increase operational efficiency.

Responsibilities include Kaizen planning, value stream mapping, 5S, and Gemba engagement. Travel is <10% and a BS in Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering strongly preferred).
• 2–4 years of lean engineering experience.
• Proven ability to lead Kaizen events and cost-reduction projects.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for lean activities to drive safety, quality, cost, delivery and morale improvements.
• Plan and facilitate 3–4 Kaizen events per year with clear deliverables and leadership
• Track cost savings and coordinate with Engineering and Finance to realize lean cost reductions
• Support 5S program and Gemba performance audits, promote lean thinking and practice across the site
• Own Value Stream Map current and future state, and align projects with cost reduction portfolio
• Plan and implement workplace flow/layout improvements and support new equipment modifications
• Participate in design reviews for new technology and modifications, and contribute to ergonomics assessments
• Coordinate with process engineering to deploy A3 problem solving and PDCA cycles
• Identify and deploy benchmarking opportunities across the division; travel <10%.
