Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Lean Engineer I or II to drive continuous improvement across a growing manufacturing operation in Minnesota. You will partner with project leadership and frontline teams to reduce waste, improve safety, and optimize workflow.

The role includes facilitating Kaizen events, implementing 5S, and scaling efficient processes as BLUvera expands, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement from the ground up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Internship experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Prior construction job sites experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Solid understanding of continuous improvement principles and their application.
• Reliable and follow-through on commitments.
• Effective training and facilitation skills.
• Ability to influence through relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project leadership and craft workforce to establish trust and buy-in for lean approaches.
• Provide regular feedback to project leadership and group lean leader on lean approaches.
• Work with diverse teams across organizational levels.
• Support continuous improvement efforts onsite.
• Coordinate and facilitate improvement events with project team and experts.
• Reinforce continuous improvement and standardized work.
• Support forepersons in observing work and addressing abnormalities.
• Encourage ongoing improvements and 5S practices.
• Communicate 5S standards during onboarding of new workforce.
