Job summary

GRAIL, based in Durham, NC, is hiring an Engineer, Operational Excellence to advance continuous improvement across sequencing-based operations. The role emphasizes data-driven problem solving, Lean/Six Sigma, and-scale process optimization in a laboratory environment.

You will analyze KPI data, apply SPC/QC methods, and drive Lean initiatives with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability. On-site, full-time in Durham, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in process engineering, operations, or continuous improvement roles, ideally in biotech, diagnostics, or manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies (certification a plus).
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Operational Data & Reporting: Support KPI reporting, ensure data integrity and usability.
• Process Analysis & Monitoring: Perform data exploration and statistical analysis to identify trends and deviations.
• Continuous Improvement Execution: Lead Lean initiatives, 5S, Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects.
• Issue Tracking & Prioritization Support: Capture issues, help prioritize improvements with stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Software, and Product teams.
