Job summary

Texas Hydraulics in Temple, TX is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain standard costing, analyze manufacturing performance, and identify cost improvement opportunities within Lean initiatives. This role combines traditional cost accounting with operational analysis to help the business understand manufacturing performance and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, including BOMs, routings, work center rates, cost rolls, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience with Oracle, Epicor, or other ERP/MRP systems preferred.
• Ability to analyze large data sets and communicate actionable recommendations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly business performance and provide financial insights for operational decisions.
• Maintain the standard cost system, including costing new products and annual cost updates.
• Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Participate in monthly financial close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, reserves, and annual physical inventories.
• Perform gross margin analysis and develop reports with meaningful insights.
• Partner with manufacturing leadership to develop accurate product costs using Lean principles.
• Review and analyze capital expenditure requests and related financial justifications.
• Assist with internal and external audits and with asset valuation activities.
• Maintain high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
