Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Lead Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated, with responsibilities spanning safety, communication, and equipment operations.

The Lead will travel between quarry locations and work a 2:00 pm - 12:00 am shift, including weekends and overtime as necessary. They will oversee daily tasks, mentor team members, and ensure compliance with safety standards and production goals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of experience in building materials, mining or aggregates.
• Willingness to travel between quarry locations.

Responsibilities

• Operate standard office duties, plant duties, and moveable equipment.
• Establish and maintain effective communications across operations.
• Perform safety, housekeeping, and mechanical inspections of the operation.
• Enforce safety rules and procedures per guidelines and policies.
• Coordinate with supervisors to ensure planned maintenance of equipment.
• Complete daily production, safety and maintenance reports.
• Train coworkers as needed and assist with performance evaluations.
• Participate in plant safety committees.

Job description

This position involves various manual tasks including, but not limited to, the following: shoveling; sweeping; lifting, pushing and pulling various objects and raking. Willingness to learn to operate various equipment, such as a skid steer, backhoe, pavers, rollers, etc.

What To Expect

Martin Marietta is seeking a Lead Person to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for communicating standards of excellence in the daily work assignments of assigned team in order to meet safe production as outlined by Management. The Lead person will communicate standards through stated goals, daily interactions, team meetings, providing input on employee performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary actions. This position requires travel from the quarry to other locations. Hours are 2:00 pm - 12:00 am including weekends and overtime as necessary.

A Typical Day For A(n) Lead Person May Include

• Performing standard office duties, plant duties, equipment repairs and operates mobile equipment
• Establishing and maintains effective communications within all areas of operation
• Performing regular inspections for safety, housekeeping and mechanical issues in all areas of the operation
• Implementing and applying all safety rules, regulations and procedures of mine and property as set forth by federal, state, and local agencies and policies, as well as company guidelines and safety standards
• Working closely with the Sr. Team Coordinator and Production Supervisor to insure implementation of scheduled maintenance on all equipment
• Completing annual performance evaluations on team members
• Participating on plant safety committee
• Working with the Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, and Sr. Team Coordinator in developing mining plans, profit plans, AFE'S, and monthly forecast
• Completing daily production, safety and maintenance reports accurately
• Maintaining plant housekeeping and appearance standards and product quality as established by federal, state, and local agencies and policies, as well as company guidelines and safety standards
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Have three (3) years of experience in in the building materials, mining or aggregates industry
