Job summary

Delaware North at Mardi Gras Casino & Resort is seeking part-time Leadouts in Cross Lanes, West Virginia to care for greyhounds in the paddock and en route to the starting box.

The role includes leading dogs to the starting box, placing them in crates, performing weigh-ins, and ensuring the dogs are safely managed in all phases of the race. Flexible evenings, holidays, and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with animals preferred.
• Ability to lift and move greyhounds daily.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

• Lead dogs to the starting box.
• Put dogs in starting box.
• Ensure injured dogs are safely removed or directed.
• Perform weigh-ins.
• Lead dogs back to lockout kennel and correct crates.

The opportunity

Delaware North Gaming is looking for part-timeLeadouts to join our team at Mardi Gras Casino in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Leadouts have the important role of handling and caring for the greyhounds in the paddock and while they are en route to the starting box.

Pay

$14.25 – $14.25 / hour

What will you do?

• Lead dogs to the starting box
• Put dogs in starting box
• Make sure when a dog falls or is injured that it is safely removed from the track or is going in the correct direction
• Perform weigh-ins
• Lead dogs back to lockout kennel and in the correct crates

Physical requirements

• Lift and transport greyhounds on a daily basis in excess of 70 lbs. for up to 100 yards
• Able to run or jog up to 100 yards 7 to 10 times per night
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
