Job summary

Mastery Schools seeks an Assistant Principal of Specialized Services (APSS) on assignment for a one-year leadership development experience. You will lead specialized services systems, support transitions, and drive network priorities across campuses, with opportunities to grow into a permanent APSS role.

You will collaborate with school and network leaders to strengthen instructional systems and outcomes for students with disabilities, building leadership capacity for diverse contexts.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Special Education required.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in historically under-resourced or diverse school communities.
• Certification in special education and administration in PA or NJ required.
• Preference for candidates greenlit through the Mastery Selection Process for APSS.

Responsibilities

• Manage the school’s Specialized Services programming (Special Education supports, 504 plans, interventions).
• Oversee IEP and 504 processes; supervise related services and evaluations.
• Coordinate Social Work and Mental Health services with partner organizations.
• Chair manifestation determination meetings and other special education meetings.
• Ensure SDI, accommodations, and modifications in general education settings.
• Support Administrative Team leadership and evaluate special education staff.
