HRUCKUS seeks a Lead z/OS Systems Programmer to own the stability and modernization of a client’s IBM mainframe environment in Annapolis, MD. The role focuses on on-site leadership, system engineering, and advancing modernization efforts with z/OSMF and Ansible.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of hands-on z/OS experience, maintains Active Secret clearance, and will work in a mission-critical defense-related setting with RACF, STIG, and security/compliance responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer.
• Active Secret Clearance is required.
• Work on-site in Annapolis, MD full-time, commutable from DC metro area.

Responsibilities

• Core z/OS engineering: install, configure, and maintain z/OS and IBM system software (SMP/E, PTF/RSU, PARMLIB/PROCLIB).
• Modernization and automation: drive mainframe tool adoption using REXX, CLIST, Ansible; integrate with cloud/hybrid architectures.
• Performance and capacity: analyze workloads with RMF/SMF; tune WLM policies; optimize CPU/storage usage.
• Subsystem support: provide config and troubleshooting for JES2/JES3, CICS, DB2, MQ, IMS.
• Security and compliance: maintain RACF, manage digital certificates, STIG remediation.
