Job summary

Cornwall Public Library is seeking a Librarian II – Head of Youth Services to lead programs for preschool and school-age children, select materials, and oversee cataloging activities.

The role reports to the Library Director and supervises librarians, library assistants and clerical staff. MLS/MLIS required with two years of professional library experience, including one year in children's services; NYS Public Librarian certificate required.

Salary ranges from $52,890 to $75,348 annually.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program and two years of professional library experience, one year in children's services.
• Possession of a New York State Public Librarian's certificate at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct library programs for preschool and school-age children.
• Supervise librarians, library assistants and clerical staff.
• Develop procedures in collaboration with schools and community partners.
• Assist patrons with reference questions and information retrieval.
• Maintain and organize the children's collections and materials.
