Job summary

DC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) seeks a Supervisory Youth Development Representative (SYDR) to supervise Youth Development Representatives, manage daily supervision and engagement of adjudicated youth in custody, and uphold safety, security, and humane treatment in our facilities.

The SYDR will lead staff, coach on de-escalation, monitor schedules, transport youth to court and medical appointments, and document incidents in the department's information system.

Qualifications

• Experience working with juveniles in detention
• Specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead Youth Development Representatives in supervision and engagement of youth
• Coach staff on de-escalation techniques and enforce discipline per policies
• Prepare and monitor facility master schedule for YDR staff
• Document incidents and prepare detailed written reports in the department system
