Job description

The core working hours are 3:00 pm - 10:30 pm, M-F.

The hourly wage is $19.56.

This is a Full-Time position offering a competitive salary.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, drug screening, and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. The role may require use of your personal vehicle to transport individuals served; all Melwood transportation policies must be followed. Liability insurance on your personal vehicle must be in full force and effect while transporting on behalf of Melwood. Melwood will reimburse mileage in accordance with the Travel policy.

Introduction

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, performs cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications and assists in monitoring the custodial crew’s work.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices.
• 2. Empties tenants' waste baskets and disposes the trash in a prescribed manner.
• 3. Dusts horizontal surfaces.
• 4. Cleans bathrooms.
• 5. Waxes and buffs floors with prescribed buffers.
• 6. Cleans glass and windows.
• 7. Washes walls and other vertical surfaces.
• 8. Performs snow removal if required by contract specifications.
• 9. Polishes kick panels, door knobs and other designated fixtures.
• 10. Strips and waxes floors.
• 11. Vacuum rugs.
• 12. Mixes cleaning solutions.
• 13. Maintains issued equipment.
• 14. Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.
• 15. Supervises activities of assigned workers on a temporary basis while performing own work.
• 16. Assumes responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman.
• 17. Performs all other duties assigned by Custodial Foreman.

Supervision Exercised

The Vice President of Human Resources supervises the Corporate/International Recruitment Manager, Staff Training Manager, Compensation & Benefits Manager, Human Resources Administrator and Human Resources Administrative Assistant.

Supervision Received

The incumbent is supervised by the Custodial Foreman.

Physical Qualifications

The incumbent must be able to stand or walk 90% of the work time and sit 10%. He/she must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment. They must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach. These requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches and corners. They must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers; must have good vision, with depth perception and ability to distinguish colors for safety reasons.
