Job summary

Fishbeck seeks a Wetland Scientist to lead ecological consulting across the Midwest. You will manage client relationships and projects, perform wetland delineations, permitting, and biological surveys, and help grow the ecological practice. Travel to project sites and field-work are expected as part of project delivery.

The role requires a BS in a relevant field, 5+ years in wetlands, and strong writing/communication skills. Hybrid schedules and extensive team collaboration are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in botany, wetland ecology, soil science, natural resource management, or related field.
• 5+ years in wetland delineation, water resources permitting, botany, or related env. consulting.
• Certification as CREP/CE/PWS/PA/PLA strongly desired.
• Strong field botany skills and local plant identification.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage clients, projects, budgets, and schedules.
• Oversee development of reports, rare species protections, and wetland minimization.
• Lead delineations, permitting, ecological monitoring, and reporting.
• Conduct flora and fauna surveys and site assessments.
• Determine water resources permitting requirements with agencies.
• Read maps, GPS data, and aerial photos; prepare proposals and plans.
• Travel to project sites across the state with occasional overnights.
