Job summary

Bass Pro Shops in Lebanon, Missouri is seeking a Lead Welder to train A & B welders, ensure high-quality output, inspect work, and assist the Weld Supervisor with organizing production flow.

You will monitor line performance, balance workloads, and enforce safety and quality standards while addressing workplace conflicts in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of welding experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of welding machine controls and their adjustment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor flow and respond to abnormalities.
• Balance lines and delegate workload based on production levels.
• Audit safety, quality, and delivery standards.
• Ensure proper safety equipment and tools are available.
• Inspect and fix work as required.
• Track hourly production using lean procedures.

Job description

The Lead Welder initially trains A & B welders, ensures proper performance of job duties with a high degree of quality. Inspects the work and corrects any defects. As rate or processes change, the Lead Welder assists the Weld Supervisor with organizing and re-balancing to ensure smooth production flow. The assembly line process requires outfitters to work as a team in close proximity with a diversified group of peers, it is crucial the Lead Welder monitors and responds to any signs of work place conflict.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Monitors flow & react to abnormalities.

Balances lines & delegates workload based on production levels.

Audits to ensure all safety, quality & delivery standards are meet.

Ensures employee has proper safety equipment & tools to perform their job.

Inspects work & fixes as required.

Tracks hourly production utilizing established lean procedures.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required: High school or equivalent

Experience: Preferred at least 1 year of experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

Basic understanding of welding machine controls, function and ability to adjust per requirements

Broad knowledge of each work station and specific critical to quality task

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.

Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.

Must be able to see details at close range.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

• Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
